A new website for Bliss

I Project Managed the creation of a new website for Bliss, the special care baby charity. Work involved creating a project brief, selecting the supplier and then overseeing the build process. I chose Wordpress as the most effective and affordable solution. The site was launched March 2012, staff are pleased with the increased flexibility the new site provides. It is still too early for any metrics, but inital responses are extremely positive. I've been recommended by the Bliss Chief Executive Andy Cole:

“Richard is a talented and creative designer, who understands the way to communicate to a range of different audiences. He has been a great asset at Bliss and delivered some outstanding projects for the charity both online and in print.”

Pots on the studio shelf

I created a brochure site, brand and visual identity for Clayspring Ceramic Studio showcasing the range of ceramic products. I started off with a static hand-coded site, but I'll implement an online shop in due course.

Managing design and Usability

At Shelter, I was responsible for signing off website design. The main Shelter site was re-designed with an emphasis on developing good Usability. During my time at Shelter the website received £3m funding from the Vodafone Foundation and was able to grow to become the UK's leading housing advice portal, with an impressive hit rate. I managed the creation of a website for the human-rights charity Room2Heal. I helped articulate the values and ethos, and shape the Room2Heal brand. This included developing the information architecture and visual identity, drafting written material, and designing printed collateral including their annual report.

This is what the Director of Room2Heal had to say about my work:

"Richard has provided his time and expertise on a pro bono basis to Room2Heal since our organisation's inception in 2007. Richard has superlative design management and support skills, produces superb materials and is a real grafter. I would recommend him highly."

Mark Fish, Director, Room2Heal.

Digital projects

My digital work mainly involves project managing, but has also included design and copy writing, E-learning and multi-media, micro-sites, email and commissioning online games. My digital Project managment experience includes overseeing and commissioning website builds, SEO and Usability testing as well as some work with Social Media and Video.

I created a website for my local Thatcher, Chris. I designed the site and wrote all the content. I manage it including SEO and analytics.

This is what he said

'The site is a great success, it has generated many enquiries and has greatly increased my business profile. I also receive a lot of unsolicited praise from customers for the design and layout of the site and general usefulness. I can thoroughly recommend Richard's work.'

Managing the development process

At the Communications Agency Forster I worked as Design Manager, and it was one of my jobs to project-manage the re-development of the agency's own website. We used Plone, an open source content management system, allowing fairly complex realtionsips between different bits of site content. Visit the Forster website
